The EDUKIDS Charitable Foundation, within the framework of the Ukrainian Kids’ Rights Platform (National Eurochild Forum in Ukraine), conducted a nationwide survey among children and teenagers aged 10–17 titled “How I Feel and Learn in Ukraine Today.”
More than 5,500 children from different regions of Ukraine participated in the survey, which was conducted between 6 February and 18 March 2026.
The aim of the research was to hear directly from children themselves — about their experiences, emotional well-being, learning conditions, and needs in the context of war, air raid alerts, power outages, and ongoing instability.
Among the key findings:
- – 64% of children reported frequent electricity and heating outages;
- – 55% stated that they feel tired and emotionally exhausted because of these conditions;
- – the strongest request from children was the need for moral, psychological, and emotional support;
- – many children described the war as a constant part of their everyday lives.
The results show that children’s learning and daily lives in Ukraine are currently taking place under significant psycho-emotional pressure.
Despite these difficult circumstances, children continue to study, adapt, and look for ways to support themselves and one another.
For EDUKIDS and the Ukrainian Kids’ Rights Platform, it is extremely important that children’s voices are heard not only by adults, but also by educational institutions, public authorities, and international partners.
The survey results are planned to be used for further child rights advocacy, the development of support programmes, and dialogue on the real needs of children in Ukraine during the war.
The report has also been shared with the European child rights network Eurochild in order to further represent the experiences and needs of Ukrainian children at the international level.
